Pei-Fang (Christy) Lee is a dedicated educator pursuing her second Master's in Bilingual Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She holds a first Master's degree in School Leadership from Temple University, and she is currently in the process of obtaining her principal certificate. With extensive teaching experience in both the United States and Taiwan, she has engaged with students across a broad spectrum, from kindergarten to high school. Pei-Fang holds a bachelor's degree in Chinese Literature from the University of Taipei, complemented by a minor in Early Childhood Education and Childhood Education. Additionally, she holds Taiwan's elementary school teacher certificate and is committed to integrating Taiwan's advanced language literacy pedagogy into the American educational framework.

Pei-Fang taught Chinese classes, including Chinese 1, 2, 3, 4, AP, and IB, at the Philadelphia High School for Girls, one of the top public high schools in Philadelphia. In addition to foundational courses, these advanced programs, certified by the College Board, not only provide students with college-level credits but also cultivate a globalized learning environment. Pei-Fang is dedicated to fostering an immersive educational atmosphere where students can explore new concepts while gaining a comprehensive understanding of Chinese linguistics and culture. She believes that bilingual education is crucial for preserving cultural identities and equipping students with the skills necessary to excel in an interconnected world.

Pei-Fang's vision for bilingual education is informed by her personal experiences and the broader historical context of language policy in the United States. She perceives bilingual education as a vital arena for linguistic and cultural preservation, advocating for the safeguarding of minority languages amidst the pressures of linguistic assimilation. Inspired by Taiwan’s ambitious 2030 Bilingual Nation initiative, she seeks to establish a comprehensive system that supports both students and educators, ensuring that teachers are equipped with culturally responsive teaching strategies and translanguaging pedagogy.

During her pursuit of a Master's degree in Education at Temple University, Pei-Fang served as president of the Taiwanese Student Association, where she actively fostered and strengthened the Taiwanese student community in Philadelphia. This leadership experience enhanced her understanding of cross-cultural communication and the significance of community engagement. After graduation, she joined the Taiwanese Junior Chamber of Commerce in New York and North America to further contribute to the Taiwanese community in the United States.

Pei-Fang envisions establishing a Chinese immersion learning environment in New York City that promotes Taiwanese and Chinese culture within a diverse community. She is committed to enhancing appreciation and understanding of their rich cultural heritage. Through innovative teaching methodologies and cultural exchanges, Pei-Fang aims to create an inclusive environment where students can excel academically while embracing multiculturalism and bilingualism, thereby contributing to a more equitable and diverse society.
